WHAT TO EXPECT

This course is the perfect Introduction to Functional Fitness.

Over the 6 weeks we will cover all the fundamentals of Functional Fitness, from heavy lifting to fast sweaty metcons.

In each session will work on each of the fundamental functional movements (squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull and carry) and will also cover the most common movements you will typically see in metcons (like dumbbell snatches, barbell thrusters, box jumps, wall balls, and more).

The first session of the week will be strength based. Here, we will focus on compound lifts and accessory work.

The second session session of the week be fitness based. Here, we will focus on metcons and conditioning pieces.

By the end of the 6 weeks you will have a greater understand of how to perform exercises correct and safely, and be more confident performing and following a functional fitness programme.

This course is perfect for anyone looking to:

  • incorporate more Functional Fitness based training into their training routine.

  • learn the main lifts and movements of a Functional Fitness based programme

  • improve lifting technique or learn new skills

  • build confidence in the gym

This course is also the perfect Introduction to The BUILD Programme. If you’ve been keen to join BUILD but aren’t confident enough to train alone, this is the perfect introduction course.

This course is an introduction to Functional Fitness. We will not cover any advance gymnastics movements (like handstand push ups, TTB etc.) or Olympic Weightlifting. If this is something you are interested in, see my Introduction to Olympic Weightlifting course.

Experience required: Some training experience or understanding of the basics is favourable, but not essential. This will be great for beginners to intermediate, or those with lifting experience but who are new to the world of Functional Fitness.

GBA 2.0, EDINBURGH

The course will be held at GymBasedAthlete 2.0, Edinburgh. Sessions will be every Tuesday at 5:30pm and Thursday at 6:30pm. Each session will last 60mins and is capped at 6 people. The course is open to both existing clients and non-clients.
