WHAT TO EXPECT

  • 6-week training course

  • 2x coach-led sessions per week

This course is the perfect Introduction to Functional Fitness.

Over the 6 weeks we’ll cover all the fundamentals - from heavy lifting to fast, sweaty workouts.

Each session will focus on the fundamental movements patterns (squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull and carry) and the most common movements you will see in a typical functional fitness workout (like dumbbell snatches, barbell thrusters, box jumps, wall balls, and more).

The first session of the week will be strength based, where we will focus on compound lifts and accessory work.

The second session of the week will be a mixture of strength and fitness based work. This session is suitable for all fitness levels. If you’ve not done much fitness recently, don’t worry! We’ll meet you where you’re currently at, providing the right balance of challenge and support to allow you to progress each week without feeling overwhelmed.

By the end of the 6 weeks you’ll have a solid understanding of how to perform exercises correctly and safely, and feel more confident performing and following a functional fitness programme.

In addition to your 2 coach-led sessions, you’ll also have access to our group fitness classes (Tuesday 6pm /Friday 6am & 7am) which you’re welcome to join at any point during the course. You’ll also receive some optional “homework” sessions so you can practice everything covered in class.

Who is this course for?

This course is perfect for anyone looking to:

  • Incorporate more Functional Fitness based training into their training routine.

  • Learn the main lifts and movements in a Functional Fitness based programme

  • Improve lifting technique or develop new skills

  • Get back into training after some time off

  • Build confidence in the gym

This course also serves as the ideal introduction to our BUILDBOX group programme. If you’ve been keen to join but don’t yet feel confident enough for our group classes or online programme, this course is the perfect starting point.

Please note: this course is an introduction to Functional Fitness. We won’t cover advanced gymnastics movements (such as handstand push-ups or toes-to-bar) or Olympic weightlifting. If you’re interested in those, check out our Introduction to Olympic Weightlifting course.

Experience required: Some training experience or understanding of the basics is favourable, but not essential. This will be great for beginners to intermediate, or those with lifting experience but who are new to the world of Functional Fitness or who are getting back into training after having had some time off.
